Also you should give the new males time to settle in. Stress from new birds can impact a hen’s laying ‘schedule’. Plus, sometimes hens need a break, and will slow up laying.

It's actually not the same ratio. Hatching 1000 chicks from 1500 gives an approximate hatch rate of 70%. Hatching 500 from 1000 is 50%.

But I do agree. Just breathe. Give your girls some time.
 
I always wondered how health and nutritional intake affected hatchrate, from a little bit of testing it seams a good balance of protein and vitamins put my hatchrates up

of course mixing feed with nutritional yeast and selenium and turkey starter is easy for 30 birds not 500
