Hi, I am new to keeping chicken. I have five orpingtons which hatched last July but I still can't tell the difference between males and females. One/ some of them have started crowing but they then infuriatingly mix with the rest of the flock. They all look the same to me and behave the same (you can tell I am not very perceptive). It doesn't help that I am the first in the village to keep orpingtons so there have been a lot of debates between my neighbors about the sex of my birds. Is there a sure way to sex them based on appearance?

Pictures would help.

But the main thing you can look for are saddle feathers. Males will have pointed feathers, females will have rounded feathers.
