PLEASE HELP ME! STEPPED ON ONE OF MY BABIES!!!!

oh no.......i let my 5 wk olds out to run and one got under my foot! i dont know how bad she is. nothing seems broken. shes in my hand under my chin right now. eyes closed.....breathing.....blood coming out of the nose.....what do i do?

Oh, I'm sorry, I know how little ones can get under foot. It is hard to say what the extent of injury is. Keep the chick in a quiet warm space and see how the poor thing progresses. We may be able to offer more advice when we get a better idea how she is coping.

thank you. i set her in a box wrapped in a sweatshirt (closest thing to me) so i could get out and put the others back up. Pepper is a GC Polish and is definitely one of mama's girls. She is resting now on my lap.She tried to walk and tipped over. her left leg is curled up, Her eyes are open now but she won't raise her head but does let out a liittle chirp every now and then....does not look like any neuro issues right now and there is no more blood in the nose.

UPDATE 3:30ish pm: Ok. Now that I have calmed down a minute, let me back up....When I brought Pepper in the house to post on the forum, I was certainly panicked. I brought her back with outside without moving her...(was holding her under my chin) I had to go out to check on the babies because they were unsupervised and 5wks is not old enough to let them be with the other chickens yet, and certainly not the cats. Still too small and would be considered prey.

When Pepper heard the peeps from the others her head did pop up and she wanted down. I was sitting on the ground and I opened my hand, lowered her to my knee and she jumped out to the grass. It was almost like when a bird hits a window it's dazed or knocked out and once they snap out of it, they fly off. Well, Pepper perked her head up, took about 2 or 3 steps and fell over, but DID manage to hop onto a piece of a 2x6 that was laying out there.

I have her now next to me wrapped in a warm blanket.She seems to respond to my voice with that wonderfully beautiful "purring" sound. She seems calm, and is not gasping for air. Her beak is closed and she seems to be breathing normally.

Should I give her some sugar water to help with the shock? Or let her rest and withhold food and water for a while? I'm so scared! I love all my chickens, but there are always some that you seem to bond with more, and her and I bonded right away the day she arrived. I would be devastated to lose her, especially this way!

Update: I am happy to report, at least for now, that Pepper seems to be just fine. Maybe she was just in shock that her mama stepped on her!? Thank goodness I was barefooted so I was able to feel her before putting full pressure on her. After a few hours of rest she was hopping all over the place so I took her back outside. Opened the gate to let the others out again before bedtime and Pepper went running. Now, she ran into the coop but ran nonetheless. No one is picking on her and she nestled onto a log for the night. I will check on her first thing in the morning, but I think she's going to OK.
