PLEASE help me with my fighting cats!

Thanks for the tip! Hubby will be coming home at least 2x/day while I am in the Hospital to check on everyone (one of his siblings will be house sitting, but just for extra reassurance since I HATE being away from the farm) so he can bring home an item from the baby each day like a blanket or diaper.

On another note the spoiled cats in addition to the Feliway got ANOTHER cat tree, and two new kinds of treats when I went to Petsmart.

There is also a plug-in hormonal thingie that I have used. It puts out happy phermones or something like that. The one I got plugs into the wall like the air fresheners. It seemed to help some. Do note that it is was pretty expensive. If it helps though...

Good luck. My boy Max is part siamese and he is the cranky pants around here.

The diffuser is called Feliway and it is amazing stuff. We have nine cats and were having some spraying issues and redirected aggression about outside cats. It is expensive but we bought two diffusers and within a week or two our cats were completely different. It is very peaceful in our house now and I can tell when the diffuser needs to be changed if I forget because everyone gets a little "edgy."

If this persists ask your veterinarian for behavioral advice after ruling out any medical problems. Cats are incredibly sensitive creatures and there may be things that are setting them off that you are not even aware of! Best of luck to you.

***Sorry, just read the post where you got the feliway already!***

Thanks! I got the Feliway spray since the plug ins were so expensive at Petsmart. If it seems to work I will order a few plug ins from Jefferspet.com (my FAV place for all of my animal supplies).

So far since I posted last (yesterday afternoon) there has been some hissing but no fights *knock on wood*. The male Dexter keeps trying to make peace (I think), but Pearl keeps hissing if he comes within about 10 ft or so. He puffs up, but them backs down and runs away. I hope this is progress. I have been trying to give them treats when they are calm in the same room, but they are both so picky! We bought 3 kinds and they won't eat any of them!

Try cooked chicken, beef, pork, sour cream, yogurt, cream cheese, or just telling your cats "whatever you do, don't eat that" and BOOM! It'll become their favorite treat.

Did those shots include a rabies shot? I had a dog years ago that developed mental problems after a rabies shot. He would have fits of rage one minute and be as friendly as ever the next. We never gave him another, but had to live with his problems for the rest of his life.

If not a rabies shot.

You need to enforce YOUR dominance. I have a siamese mix who decided that I was not allowed to keep a kitten that I had found. A year later with the exception of a grumble in passing, we have three queens using the same cat box. Eating from the same dish and being very tolerant of one another because MOM said there will be happiness in MOM'S house. I refer to it as the battle of the b****es. I always win.
