Please help me with this dilemma ASAP

I'm also in Michigan. My chicks are not in a pole barn but in my unheated sun room attached to the house. I was very worried at first and I got a second lamp. I did get one of those thermometers that shuts off the lamp if it gets above a certain temp. The setup works well, one lamp (150w) that shuts on and off depending on how hot it gets and a 250 thats on all the time. The chicks seem to regulate themselves well but theres plenty of room for them to be close and far away from the heat source. Some chicks like to lay right underneath and some chicks prefer to be huddled with others a little farther away. I think your setup sounds like it will work well but I do agree about eliminating drafts. I have opened the windows of the sunroom on some of the nice days but on the cold days and at night I keep them closed.

Thank you so much for your help. It's good to hear from someone here in Michigan. So it makes me feel much better that my plan sounds like it will be ok. Thank you!!
