I have 4 Muscovy duck eggs and they are at 37 days. This is my first time having eggs. The mother and eggs have had some trauma. She laid naturally in a tree stump. We saved her and eggs from 2 snakes and then relocated her and the eggs to a safer location. She seemed to transition well. Continued sitting/turning and has seemed to take great care of them. However, day 32 she threw one of the eggs out of her nesting box (I've read that that is common?), day 35 we found an unresponsive, hatched baby outside of the nesting box in the pen, and day 37 we found the same thing. On day 37 there was pieces of shell in the mothers water container. So at this point, we have candled and saw good movement in 2 eggs, but the other 2 don't seem to have internally pipped? Or maybe they have and we lost them? Or because of the trauma and moving are they a little behind? We have them incubated at this point. Was that the correct thing to do? Is there more than we should be doing? Please help!

Putting them in the incubator is wise. If/when they hatch you can try slipping them back under there mother.
The move could have caused trauma. Inbreeding, poor genetics, and poor nutrition of the breeding flock can lead to low hatch rates as well.

I hope they hatch out well. Best of luck!
