I have her caged off from the rest of the group because she has a wet raw bottom and is just laying around and doesn't want to move. I don't know if it has anything to do with yeasterday or not. One of my 3 Americana hens layed an egg yeasterday and I don't know if she was the one who layed it or not, but today she has a very wet bottom and it is raw looking. Does anyone know what might be causing this or how I can treat it? Also her stool is green and smells really bad. PLEASE HELP. I really like Butterscott, she is a beautiful hen and I don't want to loose her.

Hmm. Check for maggots on the rear end. Probably this isn't it, but I'm not sure what else could cause this. I've heard of something called pasty butt, but I think it only effects young chicks and has different symptoms. Maybe her rear is just chapped. Are the feathers back there messy? Is she eating okay? Acting fine? how old is she?

I am not sure if it was her egg or not but I am thinking it was and if it was her egg then yes it was her first. She is 20 weeks old. Her feathers are all wet and a mess back there. I will take a picture to show what it looks like. I just don't know how to upload it so that I can post it on here.

Her rear just looks chapped to me. It's somewhat normal for their rear ends to be a bit messy. But again, is she acting sick?
