Please help! My female quail is limping and feathers in the back are missing!

So I have successfully moved her into a smaller cage. It’s below the one the male is in so he can still see her. I wasn’t able to feel if anything was broken but how many days do you guys assume she’s going to be staying in there? I know the obvious answer is until she’s healed but if any of you have ever had a quail with a limp foot I would love to know how long it took it to heal.

Wait, her foot is limp? I thought she was limping. If she can't move the foot at all, it may be a while. If she's limping, she might be fine in a couple of days.

I still wouldn't put her back in with the roo unless you're watching her the whole time. If he doesn't get a couple more hens, he'll probably injure her again.

Oh okay! And no she’s limping I just don’t know why. She could have also fallen off the ramp like the roo did because he fell and was limping once as well. It just makes me nervouse since the only cage we have left is made for dogs so the wholes are a lot longer and bigger and it looks like she’s trying to escape through them. I know she can’t but I’m worried she’ll get hurt again.

Can you give her something to hide in? She needs to be kept warm too. That will help her heal.

Could you possibly post a picture of her leg? I hope that it gets better 😊. My friends had a pair of quails that had to be separated but could still see each other (but they had their own problems) it is likely that it’s overbreeding. Males are so selfish sometimes and just can’t be content with having one girl. I mean come on! Those poor girls feeling like they’re not special. That’s why I love them 😍. (Males and females). 😆

I don’t want to hurt her more by freaking her out so for now I have separated them. Hopefully her leg heals in a few days if not I will send a picture! And haha yea very selfish my quail is.
