Please help my girl! Bacterial infection? Internal laying?

It's hard for me to put down a pet that's still acting like itsself for the most part. When she stops doing what chickens do or the flock turnsnon her, well put her down. I can try our vet for the drainings, I'd assume that is something that isn't quite as species specific? Maybe he can teach me how to do it myself?

Probably. It is pretty straight-forward. A basic knowledge of chicken anatomy is needed, and chicken anatomy is very simple. I don't see why your vet wouldn't help you to learn how to do this.

Call and ask. The vet is going to want to see the chicken anyways. You can get some antibiotics and drainage advice at the same time. Do not let them schedule a million follow-ups, though. Remember- this condition will prove to be fatal. The only thing that is going to change that is a rather dangerous hysterectomy. With a hysterectomy she can live for a long time after, but anything short of that is just making her comfortable so she can die in relative peace. I don't want you to spend a fortune on a bird that is just going to die.

Let us know how it goes. Good luck.
