Please Help! My Hen Is Egg Bound! 2ND UPDATE, Still weird things....

If there is an egg in there, it is way up inside. I can't even feel it by feeling around her body......
I used the blow dryer to dry her off and I put her back in the coop. I figured she would feel more comfortable trying to lay the egg in her nest. It is pretty warm. How long can a chicken go on like this? Poor Hennie.

When I picked her up to bring her in she pooped runny poop all over me. Maybe she is just sick or something.
She normally has a big full crop just under her jaw, but now that place seems empty and there is a big full spot down on her breast. That seems different.
She has been eating a lot of medicated chick feed.... my broodys, hens and chicks are all together so it is hard to keep her out of the chick food. And she always has been the hungry hippo chicken, maybe she ate something bad.

This is advice from a vet book Ive shortened it for you

If the egg is near vent, , break the egg carefully remove shell nad parts with finger, vaseline helps,if egg is near vent, otherwise keep her quiet and try not to disturb except to check her, some hens become upset and stop laying for one reason or another broody hens will stop laying.

She is trance like, as a broody hen gets, but she does not have any eggs and she is standing, almost like she can't move, not sitting. She does not turn in the nest or anything. Just stands in the direction I place her.

This picture is from last weekend.
Things are looking better. This morning, Hennie walked outside, got a drink and returned to the coop for a rest. This evening, she is eating, and enjoying yogurt. Not 100%, but better for sure.
A couple of things we observed...... today my husband found an "egg" all shivelled up, one of those soft ones with the contents gone.... weird. Anyway, we don't know if that was from yesterday or today, it was hidden in the bedding.
Henny's vent was inflammed. I think the warm bath felt nice if nothing else. Probably soothing for her.
My husband massaged her crop which seemed a little strange. Normally it is big and hard, now it was smaller, lower and squishy. He also gave her yogurt today. That seems to make her happy if nothing else.
Anyway, I am keeping my fingers crossed. I hope she does well.

Apply some Preparation H to her vent. A little inside and outside. It will reduce the swelling and irritation. It's not just for hemmoroids. Poor little girl and poor you. You've been through a lot. Take care.
