Please help! My Road Island Red isn't right

I just got back from the store. I gave Red a teaspoon of yogurt, a teaspoon of applesauce and a few drops of apple cider vinegar (Braggs). Any advice as to what next?

Long grass is what commonly makes this happen or hay. I discovered that i would weed my garden and throw some in their run, well when its not attached to the ground they cant tear it! and i quit using hay.

Thank you for keeping up with me. I feel like old news after signing on, a lot of SOS's. In the eight years of owning chickens. This is our 2nd bout with illness. I don't use hay, we did however weed whack our 1/2 acre and didn't have time to
rake. We have done this for years. She might just be getting old? Her BM is runny. I gave her yogurt, applesauce, and scrambled egg. She ate with an appetite. I just hope feeding her is a good thing. He crop isn't full today, it is squishy though.

I have a bad taste for vets and feathered friends. We took a cockatiel in when she tore her uterus laying. He charged us 580.00 only to tell
us if he stitched her up, she would might tear again later in life. We wanted to save her, so we had her stitched up, she died the next day from loss of blood in surgery (He didn't tell us that).

well you have far more everyday experience with chickens this is my first year! However i am retired and every question or oddity i goggle the hell out of everything and ask lots of questions,. Never ,ever too old to learn! I went to my closest city and none of what i would call (country folks) who you think know more, knew about apple cider vin, you will see it as ACV sometimes, I started all my critters on a small regular dose. It helps with slime in the water bowl and is suposed to be a natural wormmer. On your other , about the poop, mine all have been fighting that a little , i think they are drinking lotts more water. I am in hellish texas! I fill there 1gall container with ice and water with a tbls of vin every day.

Take her to the vet. We have a 16 wk old RIR that had the same symptoms a month ago. I took her to a vet and she ended up having an infected crop. A week of antibiotics and another week to get her strength back indoors and she's back to her old self! Was inexpensive too! Only $50. Also, try giving her pedialite with an eyedropper to keep her hydrated until you can see a vet. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your advice. This is where I'm at today. I am going to have our local vet whom does house call to see if I can't get an antibiotic.

I like the idea of putting the vinegar in the water as a preventative. I'm on it right now.
