Please help! My roosters are overmating my hen!!

So I kind of have the same problem. I have one hen (black cochin) that my two roosters won't stop mating with her. I feel like she is very submissive and they know this. The other hen (white leghorn) will squat for them when she wants, but its on her terms. I let my chickens free range for a bit in the evenings, and as soon as the roosters see her they both got at it. This last time, they both got on top of her at least 3 times each within an hour. i had to kick them off her. While the other hen enjoys her peace just foraging away without a care. Will this eventually stop or will it continue? Also, I saw something about a saddle?

If you desire chicks then make a bachelor pen that will house all the roosters and cockerels but only allow ONE at a time to range with your flock of hens. Change the boys out every 7 days for high fertility. Also very young cockerels are on a testosenin trip for the first two or three months after they become sexually active. So an older rooster may be best in your situation. One more thing. In chicken society dominance is key. Young cockerels may not be socially superior over older hens and it is common for these young male birds to direct all their amorous attention on the lower ranking hens because... well because they are physically unable to deny the advances of young cockerels.

A saddle will help her keep her back feathers. It won't solve the main problem of the constant harassment though.

Do you only have 2 females? If so that often isn't enough for one male let alone 2. How old are the males? Is there any reason why you want to keep both? I definitely would not allow them to free range with that hen.

When I bought them as chicks they were raised together and never had issues. They are bantams and just turned 10 months. Both hens had chicks already but they just turned 3 months so not old enough to be sexually active yet. My thought is that more females will help but need time for them to grow. I Will keep the roosters caged up while the hens free range.

I have twenty hens between two roosters, I about to get rid of one because he doesn't think ten hens is enough for him he chases all the girls and has been upsetting them. My other rooster is very laid back and dances for the girls so he treats them right so I am going to keep him. Even with more hen you may have to get rid of one rooster.

Thanks for the information. I guess time will tell. If not, I will definitely give them away.
