Please help. My sweet chick is four weeks old and has some sort of neck tumor!

Whatever it is you can tell it's infected by redness,I would not poke it cut it or even mess with it till infection has gone away.I would give human antibiotics if you don't have any animal prescriptions layi g around. Its all the same anyways.need to give 4 times a day.

I would google “subcutaneous emphysema in chickens” (also called leaking air sac) and read a few of the articles. Sometimes air will collect from trauma, but infection can also cause it. An 16 to 18 gauge needle with a syringe would be only necessary to check. Most feed stores sell them. Pus does eventually solidify in chickens, but it also can be liquid early on, and may be removed for a culture with the needle. I think the antibiotics may be helpful in the event of an infection. A vet could be helpful to try and help to know the exact bacteria from needle aspiration of the wound, and the right antibiotics can be given.

Smash up some antibiotics mix with water and if you have to force feed it with syringe.you need to get as much antibiotics as possible in that chick if you want to have chance
Starting yesterday I smashed it up and rolled it into a pellet of butter which she ate :) This morning I had to open her beak and put it in but then she gobbled it down.

Today’s update. Well first I’ll start by adding a pic of her I took just one day before this all started. No neck/back bump. Makes me wonder if it’s something outside the box like a spider bite. Second pic shows the redness has turned to a bruise color and instead of a firm ball it’s now a softer ufo kinda shape.

A bite could be a good guess. We have seen many posts about tick bites causing bluish swelling on wattles before. Ticks inject an anticoagulant which then causes hemorrhage, hence the bluish bruising, into the tissue. Some use a small dose (1/4 of a 25 mg benadryl for a chick) of benadryl to help counteract this. Hopefully she will get along fine in a few days.

Ticks are such nasty creatures! Thank God as of now all nine other chicks are well.

It looks ugly but much better.anti biotics defintely working.I'm guessing fly larvae. But that is guess whatever it is antibiotics are working .Maybe use topical ointment like Neosporin. If it comes to head don't pop it let it pop on its own. When it pops then clean very well and keep clean.
