Hello, thanks for taking the time.
i have plymouth bard rocks and rhode island red's and the reds all seem to have developed this large swollen upper vent tail area. im still somewhat new to chickens so i dont know if this is normal or not. but one of them has never had much of a tail and she gets pecked on....i think she recently started getting her big red butt thing pecked because she just went in the nest and layed with her rear to the wall. and wont come out. it looks pretty swollen and pulses. her vent looks fine and her poo is solid. every thing seems to b ok besides when shes with the others she just hides.
i have her in her own pen now and shes doing better but i want to know whats up with this bright swollen tail.
also is there any kind of yearly maintenance i should b doing for the chickens for health? like medications?
i feed them organic food and supplement greens and food thats gonna go into compost.
