We just came home from picking up our silkie and frizzle chicks, both half Americana. They were really dirty when we got home so we washed them in warm water and put them in their brooder with a 100 watt bulb. They keep chirping and pecking at the woodchips. Both eat out of their food, and they are really loud. they are about 3 days old

Are you just using a lightbulb? If so, I would seriously consider getting an actual heat lamp for them and not just a 100 watt lightbulb- Other than that, make sure they are eating and drinking and pooping and watch their behaviour to make sure they aren't too hot or cold. Keep checking their rear ends to make sure they do not get poop built up, as it can be deadly if it blocks them up. It's called "pasting up" and usually chicks that have it once will have it again.

Your post title said please help....do you have a specific question or concern?

Um..... What's the problem? And i really think you should get a heating lamp, or they might get pretty cold! And no one wants that for baby chicks!

Ok the feedstore has a 100watt red bulb. My question is, is that all normal? They are eating and drinking fine and they cuddle further away from the bulb

They sound perfectly normal. Some chicks are just louder than others. They will go closer to the bulb or further away if the need the heat or to cool off.

Cute babies, BTW.

Yea that is all normal especially at first. The red buld will help some too because it is not as bright as a normal light and allows them to sleep better. Do you have a thermometor in with them to monitor temp?
