Please help! Pullet acting strange after laying ...

Thank you! She seems much better today. (With the exception of strange droppings that I've asked about in another thread.) I'm hopeful!

What do you mean strange dropings? Is the poop sticking to her feathers at the vent area? Is she walking funny like a penquin? I'm hoping she's fine but I had to put one down because she was egg bound. I know a little about that. I'm by no means an expert on the subject. When mine got sick she pretty much hung out by herself & was real lethargic & walked like a penquin. I could feel the egg right at her vent.

Here's what I wrote earlier concerning the droppings. She isn't walking funny and still seems to be better this afternoon.

I started a thread yesterday regarding my white leghorn, Daisy, who I feared may have egg yolk peritonitis (https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...llet-acting-strange-after-laying#post_9514966)

We gave her an injection of 1/2 cc penicillin yesterday evening and I fed her a mash made of yogurt, rolled oats, some crumbles from their chick days and a little cayenne pepper. She gobbled it up which I was glad to see as it was the first time I'd seen her interested in food all day with the exception of occasionally nibbling on grass etc outside. She was drinking water with raw ACV yesterday but that was about it for most of the day. A side note, the others ate some of the mash as well.

This morning I was very pleased to see her almost back to her normal self - not 100% but much, much better than yesterday. However, I noticed that she pooped a small amount of green droppings, fairly firm with a small amount of redish color at the end, that was also surrounded by watery/mucousy stuff. It didn't necessarily look like blood, so I thought perhaps the cayenne pepper?

I was cleaning the coop and nests out a little later and saw where she had been roosting and there were two more piles of droppings exactly the same as described above, one with some of the red and one without, with a lot of the watery stuff. Again, not convinced the red was blood. I didn't notice these features in any of the other droppings by the other girls. (Afer much deliberation we decided against separating her last night and decided against it as the others werent bothering her, she doesn't like to be alone and we didn't feel it was contagious - hope we are right on that!)

Could the penicillin cause strange droppings? Or could it just be the dairy etc in the mash after not eating much yesterday?

We will continue the injections as recommended in the above-linked post and I'm continuing to be hopeful that if it is EYP, we caught it early enough to save her given her perkiness today, or that it's something else she may recover from.

Also, I haven't felt any egg so I don't think she's egg bound.

I haven't seen any abnormal droppings for almost two days now so I think she's out of the woods. I'll try to remember photos next time I see strange things. She has been 100% her normal self, and continuing to lay regular eggs. I'm so thankful!!

I'm going to just keep watching her closely from here on out so I can treat quickly if anything starts up again.
