Hi. So I got 2 chicks for my sister 2 days ago I believe. And one sadly died in its sleep. I don' know why, because earlier that day he was running around with his play mate and doing just fine. Anyways so today, the second chick is I think dying... I tried to find out what was wrong. He really hasn' been eating much. Now he just lays down, doesn't even bother to move. And chirps very quietly every so often. I even tried picking him up gently but he would just lay limp. Any suggestions on what I should do? I hate seeing him suffer. He's been like that for about 4 hours now. Please help.

Are you using a heat source with the chicks? What is the temperature? Before they died, did the chicks eat and drink? Is this chick's butt covered in poop?
If you don't know the temperature, does this chick feel warm to the touch?

No they did not have a heat lamp. They are about a week old. I got them from a feed store bc the weren't being well treated. When the first one died, I had just came back from my dads house and noticed the condition. I checked the other one. I tried feeding it but he would just turn away. He feels a bit cold.

That is the problem, right there. I don't mean to insult you, only to inform you, but chicks must have a heat source until at least two weeks of age or they will freeze to death. You have to start them at 95 degrees and lower the temperature by 5 degrees every week. Get a heat source ASAP or you will lose this chick, too.

Ok yes. Sorry I didn' know until what age they needed one. But luckily I have one in my garage so hopefully that will help. Thank you
