My chick, April, has a squishy and full crop. She’s also been making the neck movement that they do to adjust their crop. I was concerned about her crop yesterday, so I got up early this morning to check and it’s still full and squishy. I’ve smelled her breath and I can’t smell anything sour though. I have nystatin powder that’s made for chickens, should I give her that? What do I need to do to treat her?

What is the chick eating including grass, bugs, or food other than chick starter? Do you have chick grit out for them? Most 6 week chicks would normally have a full crop most of the time since they eat around the clock. Has it been eating today and is it getting plenty of water?

They do have chick grit, and yes she’s been eating grass and bugs as well. She is still eating and drinking, but her crop is much more full than the other chicks. Earlier, I massaged her crop until it was pretty much empty. There was no impaction or anything. I also gave her some nystatin. She’s back with the other chicks now, and her crop is back to being very full after eating and drinking water.
