Last year I used a friends bator to hatch some eggs for the first time. Last weekend my hubby bought me my own from Tractor Supply after I ordered some beautiful Welsummer hatching eggs. I set them two full days ago and the digital reading says its perfect between 99.5 and 100. But tonight i read reviews saying my bators temp can be way off from what the digital reading says. So I put the one that came with it on top of the eggw and it only reached 91 degrees!!! I think its been that low for the full two days since I set them! Are my eggs doomed???? Im just sick over this

You bought the Little Giant 9300 or 10300, huh? Yeah those are notorious for being off. The good thing is you've caught it early on. If you have an accurate thermometer you trust adjust for the accurate thermometer. Seeing as how you are at day 2, you still have hope. Now, because the temps were low, chances are you are going to see a delay of a day or maybe two in hatch time, but you should still see some development if everything else is right. Along with the fact that the therm is way off on most of these, so is the hygrometer. On many of these bators it's worthless and will stay between 40-45% whether you have water in it or not. I highly suggest a low humidity incubation if not in a high altitude, but if you check the air cells for growth, you'll know how to adjust no matter what you use for humidity.

Good luck on the hatch and keep us updated on how it goes.

Lol, actually I bought the Pro Series digital 4250 model. I'm not liking it because it has wires that dangle! Thanks so much for your reply! I have no idea how accurate the thermometer it came with is...its the kind that you may on top of the eggs. I'm thinking I'll trust I more than the digital readout for sure! Will update when I candle them in a few days :)

Farm Innovators... their rep isn't as bad as the little giants digitals, but I've heard a lot of mixed things about them too. Good luck!!
