Above picture is my pretty Nelda! :) doing great and happy happy happy to be alive and well! ;)

I'm so happy to hear she's doing well! You did a great thing for her, good job!

Thank you 4 your ovations! I appreciated your support very much thru the process! I did what I could for my Nelda because I'm crazy about my pets and believed in Nelda being strong enough to survive. If at any point in the healing, Nelda would have shown serious failings, making me believe otherwise, I would have culled her immediately. I do not believe in allowing unecessary pain and suffering. She never got any infection in her wounds. She always tolerated her bath soaks, water intake and her feedings well and was quite talkative every day. So I believe saving your chickens is always best route to go! If you can make them comfortable the first night, give the wounded a chance at life! :) Please refer anyone to my thread who might benefit from encouragement and information on such drastic wound healing! :)

In my above thread, I mention Nelda tolerated her feedings well. I must note: there were a few days were I had to feed her myself because she no longer would do that on her own. I had a very educated chicken helper from this website refer me to the feeding by tubing threads on this website. When she was unable to do much but just use her energy to heal. .. I had to hold her water up and she would drink only a small amount... she never gagged or threw up anything so I knew she could tolerate feeding. The tube feedings lasted two days and then when she got her strength back she ate again on her own. By saying Nelda always tolerated water intake and food that's what I meant. If your chicken can't digest food or poop or something keeps them from even the intake of liquid nutrition....tube feeding or hand feeding....you might have to talk to the vet because something more serious may be going on.

These are pics of my Puff and Caramel after they were mauled. Take a deep breath. Chickens are amazingly resilient.

I'm not an expert by a long shot. There are others here who may give much better advice. I also found Duramycin at the local Tractor Supply and put it in their water.
