As for the thermometer you are absolutely right. I had one come with my incubator and one came with the turner. If one reads 99.5 the other reads 104. I just adjusted them to split the difference and hoped for the best. Guess the gamble worked. Proably should have #4 by now. And yes they are now on pine shavings. We had commercial house for 16 years and I had never heard about cedar shavings. We used pine in the houses but alot of times you would get other kinds of wood mixed in. We even got saw dust a few times when the mill was out of shavings. Do you know what a mess saw dust chicken poop(12,500 chickens) and water can make?

you need to teach it to drink, dip your finger in the water a bunch of times and you can even put a drip on the tip of its beak
