Please Help! Weird yellow mush! (Gross Pics)

Can anybody please identify what this is? Last year she had some problems with a build-up of scar tissue however the vet said it would just fall off (which it did and it healed nicely). This year she had the same problem so we assumed the same thing would happen and this is the outcome after three or four weeks waiting for the scar tissue to fall off. She is healthy otherwise. Temperatures are normal (107F). Not too skinny and not too fat. Eats plenty and drinks regularly.

We washed her with hot soapy water, iodine and then with a low dose antiseptic. She also got a Tylon shot. She is currently sitting in front of the fireplace.

We have taken her to the vet for this same thing before, it was on her butt and he said that it would just heal and sluff off its self

Yes, and we did. It is just red and irritated skin
Can you get a photo of it now that you picked off all the yellow infection?

I agree that yellow is chicken pus. It's above the wing - how far under the wing does it go?
I see some scabbing and you have what looks like a flap of skin held up in the photos. It would be good to know how she was wounded.

You mention you gave her a shot of Tylan - what Tylan do you have? (50 or 200)
While Tylan would not necessarily be my first choice for infected wounds, sometimes you gotta use what's on hand. Tylan dosing is 10-40mg/kg given 3 times a day. Injectable Tylan can be given orally, I suggest that you do that.
FOR WOUND INFECTIONS _ If you have Tylan50 I would give at least 35mg/kg which will translate to roughly .32mg per pound of weight. It needs to be given 3 times a day for 5 days. 1 Shot is not going to do it. You don't want to have to give 3 shots a day either, that's 15 needle sticks! You also risk injection site necrosis.

The wound needs to be cleaned/flushed daily - I would check very well under and around that wing to make sure you get all the gunk out. Apply triple antibiotic ointment to the wound a couple of times a day. You may also need to repeat flushing/cleaning the wound daily if the pus keeps coming back. I would not wrap the wound unless she is consistently picking at it - leave it open. You can trim the feathers away to help keep it cleaner too.

Just my 2¢
