Mom abandoned nest so I moved them under a heat lamp. So far one has hatched and one is trying to. It hasn’t made a pipping hole but started to break the egg! It was upside down when I first found it and I turned it the right way but I’m scared it needs help. It been a few hours like that!!!!! Should I poke a tiny hole where it was trying to make a hole?!?!? The egg is moving around and I can feel it move but this is the last egg from that batch, I need it to live or else I’ll have a lone chick! It’s moving less than it was before. Please help me!!!

You need to put a thermometer next to the egg. You might be cooking it. Adjust the height of the lamp and shoot for the temp of 99.5*-100*F.

If blood is present, that means the chick is still absorbing the fluids and they should not assist. The chick needs to absorb ALL of that fluid first.

I poked a small hole where it had already tried and no blood came out and I was unable to see any.

Good news! The chick seems to be more active! It’s been around 5 mins since I poked the hole.

If it's been like that for a day, then help it. Just give it time. We hatched eggs about 2 weeks ago, and I was really worried about both eggs. They are both up and running around with mama, healthy as ever. You just need to be patient with it. The hatching process can take up to 24 hrs.
