one of mine (all under a chicken) pipped and then didn't progress.....for over 24 hours. Finally after 30 hours we GINGERLY peeled shell off but left the membrane and sprayed and prayed. A bit more, spray and pray....spray and pray....finally after it had been working for 32 or so hours, I knew it was going to come out that night no matter what, but that it needed help. DH and I went to the store to get another bulb, since I could not find mire....and my daughter kept vigil.....and helped. It pushed out of it's shell just before midnight 4/20 surrounded by tweezers, scissors, spray bottle, towels and a heating pad.
I think Kiwi is a Cayuga.
She is totally fine. My daughter was very careful to check any membrane was not stuck to her before she snipped or chipped....and it was painfully slow....and she caught the whole thing on video!
The second pipped....then when my daughter checked, she had zipped. She ended up hatching in my hand, again all on tape. The last one I could not find under the chicken...and then there she was way in the back, looking exhausted but fine. She did it all on her own, and qui ck.
the last one was definitely dead, as we gingerly tried to chip away the shell we got no sound at all....Kiwi peeped the whole process...so I opened it up and she had yolk still not absorbed, but she did look completely formed. Bummer, she would have looked like Nemo.
So, they are all different in the speed they hatch, but I would do nothing for a while...Let nature do what it does.
Nemo-
Nemo hatched
anyone have a clue what the yellow one will look like?
My males are mallard, cayuga and rouen
Females are cayuga, rouen, blue swedish, and GH300.
Kiwi is black and Nemo (seemed to have a bum wing) is yellow.
#3 Lightning....blue swedish?
