Hi there--I am on day 16 of incubating 48 chicken eggs. They were checked last night at 10pm and the temp was at a steady 99 degrees. But this evening at 6pm the temp was down to 70. We put a heating lamp on them and got up to 90 and ran to get a new incubator which they are in now. The heating element went out on the old incubator. Will this temperature drop kill the chicks? I am so worried that this did them in. Any ideas or similiar stories with good outcomes?? thanks!

I wouldn't give up yet !! Chicks are more hardy than we give them credit for sometimes.... I have heard of people losing power for several hours and chicks still hatching !!! The temp drop might cause them to hatch a little late so give them some extra time.

I agree, I wouldnt give up hope yet either. You could still end up with a good hatch. I would say the temp going down to 70 for a bit would be better than it going too high and frying your eggs.
