I noticed the pip in the egg this morning at about 8 a.m. but since then there has been no progress at all and we still have not heard a single peep. at what point should I begin to assist or does it sound like the chick has already died? It's national day 22 as of 3 p.m. to

Do not assist! From my experience, the babies usually take their sweet time after the initial external pip. They've taken as long as 24+ hours before, before starting to unzip. Can you try tapping on the top of the incubator? The baby might just be resting, absorbing its yolk and allowing the veins to recede. You could potentially do more harm than good assisting right now. Give it some time!

Thanks so much! Actually in the last 20 minutes we've been hearing her peep ing! Thats gotta be a good sign! Yaaaay

Well, there you go! The little baby was just resting. Hatching is hard work!
