PLEASE HELP! young hen limping!

Well, I'm hoping for the best, and I'm saying she just injured it. she is walking around, very alert, eating and drinking well, her poop is fine, and she is still using her leg. her eyes have always been that color, so I don't think I can depend on them. I'll keep you updated.

FWIW, I also have some with the same sort of eyes as you describe and I am 99% sure they have Merek's.

what I've noticed with the eyes of mine is they will change from the brown to a more green/gray eye color, but the most telling is the pupil changing shape. Then there cannot really be any doubt.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's not a nice thing to deal with. Your hen may get better and I hope she does, but...if you've already had Marek's in the flock chances are this is a sign of it recurring. I just lost one that started limping, got better and then just started wasting and lost her sight on the left side. We had to send her on.

her pupil is normal, not a different shape. I have no idea with her eye color, it's always been like this since she was chick. it has been over six months since one of my hens died from mareks, and they have been fine, I am just going to keep hoping she injured her leg, and will get better.

I actually thought I had another with Merek's just the other day, turns out her leg is broken. You have done a thorough exam, right?

of her leg and foot yes, It doesn't look broken, but I didn't feel for anything out of worry of hurting her. she walks around, and stands, just with a heavy limp, or with that leg lifted. she doesn't act like the other hen who died. that hen was sleepy, didn't eat much, and acted, well sick. she is very alert, and is still eating.

I have lost many to Merek's and all but a couple had very different symptoms. I still have many more here that have the eye form, but even those are different. Some have different colors, some have an odd shape, some are cloudy and some have tiny pupils. Some of mine are fat, healthy and laying eggs, others are a bit thin. Some are over two years old, some are younger
