Hi everyone,
I am looking into getting some outdoor birds that don't need a coop. We are thinking ducks, but we have coyotes and raccoons, plus birds of prey. Is there any kind of duck that isn't too loud and will not get eaten by predators?
Thank you!

No not really, you need to lock them up at night to keep them safe or they're very likely to be eaten

Can't think of any!

There's a small chance a group can fight off a cat but not against coyotes

So even Muscovys won't make it? I heard they fight off predators.

They may survive better than some breeds but they can still be predatorized. At one time we had muscovies and pekins and some rogue dogs got them. Perhaps if you could make a pen that they could at least spend the night in they would be safe, at least against night predators when they're most vulnerable.

Will pheasants do any better? We have a big family of raccoons but not too many coyotes. We would need something that doesn't need any hutch or pen. Any suggestions?
Anything that can fly, like pheasants or peafowl will probably fly away.
