Please help

Thanks y'all..I have tried but here in MI It's hard to find a chick this time of year...My son wants a baby so it imprints on him..Lucy our other hen would wait by the gate for him follow him around come when he called her it was a wonderful relationship..Grace our tan hen likes coming in the house to play with the dog and the cats and our dove..

I run a wildlife rescue so they were raised with raccoons and squirrels and cats all running around together..Should I stop letting her in the house so much do you think it'll cause a problem in the long run?

You're welcome.

I'm sorry about the loss of your girl. I agree with the other greeters that your other is lonely so getting her a new friend would help that. A chick may not be the best choice though, your girl might not feel too friendly toward a little chick and the little one wouldn't be able to stand up for herself. Getting a larger girl that's close in size to yours would probably work out better.

Good luck!
X2 on NorthFlChick. You need to get another hen similar in age and size to your girl, and even then when you introduce them to each other, you need to do so carefully using the "look but don't touch" method. There's a good article at https://poultrykeeper.com/general-chickens/introducing-new-chickens/ explaining how to do it.

Welcome to the BYC flock!  We are glad you joined us!

You may want to even search "house chicken" here on BYC.  There are actually quite a few people on here that keep chickens in the house so they might be able to give you some good advice as well.
Thanks so much for all of your help!

Thank you so much I really appreciate all of your help.. I'm going to call around to a few local farmers and see if they can help..

You may want to explore the "people with house chickens," thread. You son might find your hen can be just as sociable as the one that passed away.
