I usually turn the pip upward also. @Rose Quartz mentioned waiting 48 hours....ducks can take that long even when they do hit the air cell, so if it missed the air cell, you could be looking well into a couple days before it hatches. This one is really going to test some patience.

When you say you turn it upward do you mean like flip it 180degrees? So it was facing down now it’s directly up on the opposite side? Or do you just mean turn it up slightly so you can see it and so it’s not directly below the egg?

Did you have the lowest side of the dip in the air cell up? I'd say 99% of mine pip on top, but if they get rolled by another hatcher I roll it back up. If I had one to pip toward the floor, I'd put the pip on top, toward the ceiling.

Yes the lowest side of the air was up on the top of the egg( they are laying down on their sides) and he pipped on the bottom side of the egg not near the air cell. If I were to rotate it completely so that the pip was up towards the ceiling, the lowest part of the air cell would then be below him. If this makes sense sorry. Would that be a better position than the pip just on the side of the shell?

I can’t get a good photo because I don’t want to open the lid. It is the egg direct center. He chipped a good size piece out of the shell off where that yellowish spot is on the side. I rotated it to that position it was underneath the egg. 1. Is that yellowish spot him? Or is that a weird coloring of the membrane?
2. Is he in an okay position like that or should I turn the pip back down where it was or up all the way to the ceiling?
Any advice is helpful thanks! It’s so exciting you can hear them now!

that looks like membrane. when they pip straight to the shell the it's more likely the membrane will be discolored because they are more likely to hit some of the small blood veins on their way through. I would turn it all they way up to the ceiling it makes it easier to see what's going on so if you have to at some point go in and help you'll have a better idea if it's time.

the discoloration isn't necessarily an indication of shrink wrapping at this point.

I think it looks ok as it is, but I hate leaving them pointed down where its hard to see what's going on, and also the worry of moisture gravitating downward and closing the pip. But rolling it upward could also shift any moisture and cause confusion. So at this point, I think I would maybe gradually roll it just a smidge at a time, to inch the pip toward the top. That's just me.
The pip looks like a strong one, so I think it's pretty safe either way. Real decisive, I am.

He just knocked another piece off of the shell there and he is still pushing I think I can see his beak gong in and out so I think I’m just going to leave him to keep working on it
