I don't think it is an Australorp! I have three of them and never seen the blue on the head. Austras as I call them are black and have white in them as chicks. Pictures I have.

I haven't seen your wife's post but I will try to find it.

Pretty sure that blue is a mark added by the hatchery to identify it.
