My 1 1/2 year old Buff Orpington was broody last week, but seemed to break. This morning when my kids went out to check on her they said she was acting funny. This is what I saw On her vent. Is this a prolapsed vent? What should I do? I have no vet near me that will treat chickens. Please - I need advice ASAP. Thank you!

P.S. Her sister started laying lash eggs and died about 8 months ago, so we are very concerned.

I’m hoping she just needs some extra calcium. It was soft.

Did you cut that open to see what's inside? It may be lash material. If not then it may be a malformed egg. Seeing what it looks like inside would likely answer that.
