PLEASE HELP

Just one more option. Instead of feeding the mash dry, try making a moist porridge. Use a small bucket and add some water and stir. Serve.

Birds kept in small containment are easily bored. They'll waste any style of feed. They are counting on you to just give them more, so they pick through again and again, this is how they pass the time. Make them clean up what is in the feeding trough before feeding any more. They'll not starve themselves, they'll eat it. If you feed too much at one time, they can afford to be fussy and picky.
Sounds like some good advice their. Healthy fit hens will not starve themselves they only eat what they need to if their is nothing but the layers mash for them they will soon start to eat the layers again.

If they have choice naturally they will pick out the best parts of the food and leave the rest a bit kids and their vegetables. I would also suggest making the layers mash moist only put a little water in bit by bit as its easy to make it too soggy on cold winter days you can warm it with warm water.

I'm confused. Are you mixing it in? If so, why? If not, what is corn doing in layer mash? Is it all one homogeneous mash?
My local layer mash is grains, meal & vitamin powder, so there is whole wheat, oats & cracked peas & corn etc. I think that is what the OP is talking about.
