Our 3 hens JUST started laying eggs this week. One of the 2 Araucanas makes EXTREMELY loud noise for HOURS(yes HOURS!!!) before they lay or while others are laying. She is NOT a roo but louder than a roo!!!

I will be so sad if people in our neiborghood make us get rid of them!

I wouln'd have been so worried if they are just loud for a few minute at a time.

Could someone tell me about your experience? Maybe they'll calm down in a month? Is there anything I could do? Are they trainable?
Thanks!

I can't see her noise being that loud. Is she cakkling because she has laid an egg? Most chickens will do this when they get excited about something. Is there a dog or cat near by that is upsetting her?
If it is because she is laying an egg look at it this way....You give birth everyday (or lay an egg) and lets see you not make a noise.

I know I couldn't.
Chickens make noise to a certian extent it can be for a number of reasons, and unless you lock her up in a constantly dark room, you won't be able to fix it. That is unless you can maybe figure out if or what is bothering her.

Hi,
Mine made the fuss you are speaking of also when they first started laying. Give them a week or so, and they will get used to the swing of things. Laying first eggs can be quite the "unknown" for chickens. Yours should quietly lay very soon

We never imagined we'd love these chickies this much. We'd rather move than getting rid of them!!!

When my girls lay they come out of the shed yelling. we've nic-named it the morning announcements. I'm lucky most of my neighbors think it's pretty funny. Eggs also make them VERY tolerant

GOOD LUCK
