It is probably from being "new" at laying...it *should* calm down...but also check the hen house for signs of any predators...mine don't usually screech unless they need to.
When mine do make noise, though, Billy (my roo) decides to share it with the world and he'll cackle right with them...I don't know if he's making fun of them laying or announcing to the world they're laying...hehe...
I've never had a roo before, so it's just cool.
And, eggs make very tolerant neighbors, as someone else said.
