Hello! About a month ago one of our friends found a dead mother duck in his backyard. About an hour later two ducklings showed up on his doorstep, hungry and tired. Since he couldn't take care of them, they needed 24/7 care, he called us. We rescued the two day old (we think) ducklings and gave them to our broody Cochin, Henny Penny. She loved them! One of the ducklings, though, seemed sickly and wasn't moving around and following Henny Penny as much as the other. On the third day we found her dead in the crate we kept Henny Penny in
. The other duckling wasn't too upset about this and actually benefited from it, she started following Henny Penny around even more! It's been about a month and PuddleDuck (Puddles) is really big. The flock of nine chickens we have responded well to her too!
Does anyone know what breed Puddles is? She is a grayish black on her back, wings, tail, head and some of her underbody. her chest is white with some very light gray spots (she's just getting her feathers on her back and tail). Her bill and feet are black and the sides of her head and gray mixed with brown. She has a white stripe across her eyes. PLEASE HELP!!
