ok so after almost 40 days we finally have a baby duck. but our male duck is pecking at it. we are going to get a heat lamp and take it out. any suggestions on taking care of this baby would be much appreciated. what is the best food for baby ducks? first time doing this, very nervous. Thanx

would it be a good idea to take the other eggs out as well? in the light test we know that there are 5 more still alive.

Are the eggs under a duck or in an incubator? If you take them out, they need to be in an incubator.

Yes, get the duckling away from the drake, in a warm - 90˚F brooder, with an unbreakable mirror and a stuffed toy for company for now.

Well, they were under the mother but we removed 6 of them. Now we have two healthy babies that have hatched so far. I am a little worried about the third. Half of the shell is gone but it is still curled up in the other half. It is breathing but not a lot of movement. Also, there was quite a bit of blood on this one. Guess we need to just wait it out. Thank you for the link.
