Can aracaunas only be lavendar? I also live in australia and have 2 pullets with little afros, one is white and the other is golden laced.. how do you tell the difference between aracaunas and polish breeds?

I'll let the Aussie folks answer for sure, but I think Aracauna have pea combs and the Polish have V combs. Egg color will also tell...Arcana are colored, Polish brown/tan/cream. Aussie folks please correct if I'm wrong!

I believe Australia uses the U.K. standard for poultry, if so the chances are good that there mixes and not pure Araucana.
The U.K. standard calls for a beard on both tailed and tailless.
