please how much wazine for 7 hens

I am still learning all this posting protocol so please excuse any repeats. I am sure that this has been addressed but I can't find it.

so here goes; yes, i saw worms in one of my seven hens.

I purchased Wazine17 and need to know the best ,fastest, most efficent way to get the meds into ALL 7 of the girls

I would like to get this done tonight if possible.

Here is what I know about Wazine17. The dosage is 1 ounce of medication to 1 gallon of water. Make sure this is the only water they have so they have to drink the medicated water. I DO NOT know how long to provide the medicated water. The product comes from Fleming Labs in NC. Their telephone number is 707-372-5613. Call them and ask how long the Wazine should be given. Also ask them if you should stop consuming the eggs while the hens are being medicated. If they say you should not eat the eggs for a while just scramble them and feed back to the hens. It will be a nice nutrition boost. I'm sure the worms have weakened them.

Wazine doesn't kill all types of worms. After the Wazine treatment wait a few weeks and worm with Ivermectin. Ivermectin kills internal and external parasites such as mites and lice. Purchase the Ivermectin POUR on for cattle. For a good sized hen put 4 drops on the hens skin on her between the shoulder blades. If you get it on the feathers it will not work. For a rooster use 5 drops.

After this worm with Ivermectin every 6 months and your hens should be parasite free inside and out.


I just noticed you only have 7 hens......no need to waste the medication....we're all counting pennies these days......use 1/2 ounce to 1/2 gallon water. Make a new solution every day.

Wazine 17 is 1 ounce to 1 gallon of water for 24 hours. It is the only water source they should be exposed to for 24 hours for proper dosage.

After 2 weeks apply Ivermectin or other wormer and then once every 6 months with ivermectin.

You cannot eat any eggs for 2 weeks after the wazine. You CAN feed them back to the hens or dogs, etc.

I've read the theory,But wazine will expell adult roundworms just as quick as any of the broad spectrums orally or injected, And quicker than the pour ons.. Granted wazine only expells adult roundworms. But this is the only worm due to size that could possibly stay in the gut long enough to do any harm due to a massive kill off..Any others and the bird is to weak to worm anyways..Any time a heavy worm load is expected half dosage of any wormer should be given followed by a blow out(buttermilk,molasses etc) then in ten days give full strength..And if birds are kept on the same infected soil they are constantly reinfecting themselfs so either removing them to new ground or worming every 35 days is the only way to break the cycle....
