So in mid September, I got 4 chicks; BR, Brahma, sex link, and Australorp. I had heard each one were very good layers too, but none of them have layed and it has almost been 6 months. The weather has been perfect, and I've been having them on regular hen feed for a while now. I am still kind of new to this, and know that many hens vary in egg production, but they haven't even squatted for me yet!! how early did your chickens first lay??

our chicks were born beginning August and today was the first time we got eggs from all five. our first egg arrived about four weeks ago.

Mine were hatched the end of August and are all laying. The blackstar started the end of January and the others have just started in the past week or two. They are gold and silver wyandottes and a welsummer. We do have a light in the coop which is turned on for a few hours every night and that might be what caused them to start laying sooner. Just have patience!

Patience is sooooo hard with a backyard flock. We had to wait for 8 months before our BCM's started to lay. Some girls are just so slow to get things moving. You'll be doing the egg dance soon!

YAY!!!! I'm so excited because my BR layed her first egg today!!!!

(Maybe she was just waiting for me to post this) Hm, i was surprised because I thought my Aussie or Brahma were going to beat her to it! I'm soooo happy!! I was getting angry because I heard so much noise from outside and I recognized it as the egg song!!! But is it weird that she still doesnt squat? I'm not going to breeed her because I can have a roo, but it is easier to pick them up
