Please, please help! Bleeding chicken.

If that's the crop bulge I don't see a hole. It looks red though. If you don't think it's an injury it maybe lice or mites accompanied by feather picking. The color is strange though. Is the skin missing? Is that it?

No, Itz, I thought your steps for some wound treatment although I'm not sure about peroxide on this particular one because I can't see too well exactly what's going on.

No, nothing "got her" at first, she had a huge lump on her right side of her face, where her crop is. It seemed very much like an enlarged crop. Now it is bleeding--the next day.

I am not quite ready to send her to the meat bird section! Can't I help her?

No vets are open; I had to search for one in the area when I had a cross-beak chicken, and there are none to be had, especially after hours.

I am going to clean it and isolate her. Then I don't know what to do!

On the bright side, she is eating, walking around, and seems perfectly happy.

This looks like it is on the left side of the neck/shoulder area? Not the crop then as it on the right (the chicken's right front of the chest) I would suspect a cyst of some sort maybe that has gotten larger and burst or was punctured somehow??? Is it draining anything other than blood? I would wash it with warm soapy water or a saline solution and see what shape the opening is. Is it mushy or firm and solid feeling?

If you are holding the chicken with its butt toward you and the head facing outward...is the wound on your/the chicken's left side? It looks like it is in the wrong location to be the crop. Is it at the top of the wing?...like where the top point of the shoulder is...or is it higher on the neck?
ETA: I was looking at the original post and the picture and it looks to be on the left side.

If I am facing the chicken, this is on the right. So her left.

It is a swollen, hard bulge which now has a gash in it. I can see her pecking at it; that's what is causing the bleeding.

Can I wrap her with a bandage? How will I get it to stay on?

Okay so it should not be a crop issue as the crop is on her right on her chest kinda where the top of a booby bump would be....so it could be a cyst or an inflamation from something possibly. I would clean it with warm soapy water and keep her isolated from the others. It could be that it burst on its own, she tore it or it was pecked open by her or others. If she is pecking at it you could put vet wrap around it to keep her out of it. Is anything coming out of it besides blood? Is it bleeding quite a bit still? Pressure can help to stop that. Now that it is night I would put her in a cage inside, keep her in the dark and see what it looks like in the morning.

ETA: would not hurt to put some antibiotic on it just don't use any with ...caine in it

I put a big giant band aid on it and tied it on with some first aid gauze. It seemed ridiculous but it's on there pretty good.

I isolated her in a brooder bin and put it in the coop.

I put some tetracycline antibiotic in the water in the brooder.

I also sprayed the wound with Allercaine. Is that bad? It was for my dog. It has "lidocaine hydrochloride" and Benzalkonium chloride.

Is there anything else I can do?
