Please post pictures of where a predator went through chicken wire

Well a determined raccoon can bend much thicker wire and break the welds that hold it together. There are definitely some damaged places in my live trap where a raccon was in there for about half a day trying to get out.

Perhaps in the original title of the thread it should be worded more like a request: "Please post pictures of where a pred went through chicken wire"

coz the way it is now it looks like the op posted a pic, and the predator-experienced chicken keepers are probably just thinking "shouldn't have used chicken wire" and not clicking it.
I don't have any chicken wire on my coop that isn't zip tied and/or wire tied to welded wire for strength, the chicken wire is just for smaller holes since chicks walk through welded wire - also none of the birds are roosting near the chicken-wire coz many a raccoon has reached through chicken wire to pull a bird through the holes. In fact, my current coop is in raccoon central (it seems) and it has cattle panels, with welded wire over that, and in some places chicken wire inside that. You can see where the preds have pulled at the chicken wire testing the fence for weak places, and they have popped a couple of welds on the welded wire, but not many. Twisted wire fence is stronger coz it can't be popped like welds can, but it's more expensive.

i dont doubt a big dog could do it, But with possums coons and yotes( maybe a starving one), all i hear is they said, thats my fav line by the way,who is they

barred babies i looked in alot alot of threads on this. Nothings 100% but for us I think we are 99.9% ok with the 1inch chicken wire. And talas right about thicker wire but thin wire is sharp and cuts like a knife .Teeth can take alot of pain ,gums, mouthparts, feet not so much.

Provided you don't mind your birds having their parts pulled through that 1" mesh and sliced off in the process, by all means use it.

Go to Google images and search raccoon damage, there is a picture in there of where some heaver wire was pulled apart so raccoons could gain entry into a house.

There is also a picture where they pulled framing off of a wire mesh vent, likely looking for a paw hold to allow them to pull the wire staples out of the wood.

They will work on the problem and find any weak point then exploit that.

They are experts at peeling back roofing and going through attic venting.
