I'm a registered independent, and always vote my conscience, with the given that I AM, admittedly, a "bleeding heart." Always have been, since childhood. It's just me, and I'm certainly not ashamed of being that way. I've already voted, and this was the first time in my entire life (24 years of voting) that I wound up voting a straight one-party ticket. It certainly wasn't by design, as I had read platforms and researched each race and each ballot initiative in which I was voting, but this was the first time it worked out that way. It felt kinda weird, since I've always split my ticket before, but I wouldn't change anything now.
I did enjoy taking my 6-year-old daughter with me, and explaining the process, and how unique our system is, and how it allows for all different types of people to exercise their rights to follow their own convictions without fear of reprisal...it was an educational day!
