We had our Hannah hen euthanized Friday by the State of Ohio vets.. Necropsy was mandatory because of our quarantine for ILT. Basically, we are out of the woods for ILT. State vet told us today that they suspect Hannah may have had Salmonella Pullorum. This is a test positive and destroy condition. They will not complete her testing before Thurs/ Fri. She had a massive infection involving all her organs and her ovaries were totally iommature; they think because of her illness; that is why she never laid an egg. They think she has been ill since long before we got her, and she was just good at covering up her symptoms. We are so sorry we did not research this sooner as we would've had her euthanized a long time ago. They do not think she had Mareks, which we thought at first. The rest of our flock appears healthy at this point and none are exhibiting any symptoms classic to this condition. We are praying that the tests will prove negative for Hannah and that she did not have anything contagious that cannot be cured. We can use all the support we can get!
