I am so sorry to hear about your chick mishap, but I am also so glad I read this thread! I am in the learning process, haven't gotten our chicks yet...and I had no idea why there were rocks in the water at the feed store! So so glad I now know!

So sorry to hear of your chick. I learned this the same way you did. With my first 4 chicks, 1 drowned the same way. I went to the feed store and got another one, and that is why one of my hens is named New Girl.
