Please rate my Partridge Cochin Bantam..

How old is Cinnamon? As is, they are correct, the pattern is not proper. But if she's young (she looks like a pullet to me), there is always the possibility another molt or two might do the trick, or at least improve upon what she has at the present. There have been some examples of good partridge lacing over on the Cochin Thread, as well as much discussion on Partridge.

BTW - I rate the name "Cinnamon Swirl" 5 out of 5!!

In my opinion, type wise, for a partridge, she is better than a lot I've seen. Color wise is where she needs a lot of work. In partridge each feather is supposed to have at least three pencilings (not two) and the overall base color is to be darker colored. I do like her leg feathering though.

She looks more golden lace to me than partage. The feathing on her feet is great. I was told once to judge bantam cochins body by a basketball. Their bodies should resemble a basketball. I can not tell to good from the picture, but the body looks good to me. I hope some one like MSBEAR comes in and looks at it. I think either way it goes you have a nice bird much nicer than a lot I have seen.

I have bantam Partridge Cochin. They are SO difficult to get perfect type and coloring all at the same time. Also, usually if you have great hens, for some reason the roosters aren't as great and vice versa. I think her type looks good, her feet feathering are awesome and her coloring/penciling needs some work to perfect. Partridge is a very difficult color. For the record, none of my mine have perfect coloring either. I keep trying to find better quality partridge to add in and it is near impossible. There are only a couple of breeders that have what I would consider to be near perfect shape and coloring and they aren't letting any go at this time.

I would use her in a breeding program. Her type is WAY BETTER than a lot out there. She's full and not thin through the body like a lot I have seen people post pictures of.

Also, in my opinion, she does not look more golden laced at all.

Wendy'sChickens,
I haven't seen many Partridge Cochins to know what is "good". But I sure do like mine and want to keep a flock of them. Maybe we should turn your thread into a "Partridge Cochin" thread?
