so my hen pepper has been having a lot of problems lately, and I posted quite a lot. So sorry if I leave anything out it’s kind of hard to keep track of what happened when!

early last week I noticed that one of my chickens had some missing feathers on her bottom and it was a little swollen. I looked up what it could be and decided the most likely was vent glee. I found this site where I could ask questions and created an account. The next day I saw that she had a prolapsed vent I didn’t know what this was so I decided my best option was to give her a bath to see what was going on better. After the bath, her prolapse went in by itself and I thought that we could be done. Unfortunately over the next couple of days for Bentley got worse and prolapse came back. Yesterday it was really bad and bleeding a little bit I cleaned her off again and noticed that there were maggots near her prolapsed I asked what to do and picked as many out as I could I decided it wasn’t a good idea to put the prolapse in right then in case any maggots gone side of her. I separated her from the other chickens by wedging a piece of wood and some wire in between her and the rest the coop (not my best idea but we didn’t have anywhere else to put her) In the morning I saw thin the morning I saw that she had gotten Out but like lean on the other chicken pecked her. Her prolapse was looking a little better and I didn’t think there was any blood that was hard to tell because the disinfectant we put on was colored red. I started to give her another bath so I could put the prolapse back in when I realized that sound the flystrike spot (luckily no more maggot) was right on the edge of the prolapse.

does anyone know what I should do? Should I put the prolapse back in?

I also am supposed to go somewhere this weekend and I really need it to be cleared up by then.

I let my hen pepper (the one that has the problems) out in the yard and after about 20 minutes I noticed the fly strike scab peeling off underneath was what looks like fresh new healthy skin. I think this is a good sign After it finishes peeling off I’m going to put her prolapse back in does anyone else think this is a good idea?
she is also still laying eggs anyone know if I can still eat them?

Anyone have any ideas on how to treat all this all at once?
i’ve had quite a few suggestions but everything helps:)
also on my last post I got a suggestion to give her tums, are the flavoured ones ok?

Her eggs should be okay to eat. I would soak her bottom daily in warm Epsom salts or soapy water, and then dry and apply honeynor oil to it. Try to push the prolapse inside when you feel it is right. You can try to stop her from laying, but she would need to be in the dark for 16 hours a day, and out for 8 hours daily. That is difficult in summer. Is she able to pass droppings normally?

thank you for the information, I really appreciate it!
she is able to poo but it seems to be a bit of a struggle. I saw some more normal looking droppings today though.
Again thank you very much!
