Woke up to find temp at 87 degrees Fahrenheit. What can I do to raise the temp and is it too late?

How long do they have left? Could the thermometer have broken? If you find it is truly that temp, then I'd raise it a TINY bit until it gets back to 100. Good luck!

I put them in on the eleventh of May. That's what I thought at first; took the thermometer out, checked it, seems to be working fine. And I'm using a homemade bator.

I think you can relax. That degree of temperature drop so early in the incubation cycle is no big deal. It's not too uncommon for eggs to develop a bit when exposed to high ambient temperatures in warm climates -- early on, they can stop and start as temps fluctuate wtihout any damage. Later it becomes a bigger issue.

The take away lesson from this is perhaps some kind of temperature monitor/alarm is in order, something along these lines:

The other piece of equipment I think is invaluable in hatching is a backup power supply like this:

Oh my gosh, thank you so much! When is the point where having the temp so low a humongous no-no?
