Please say I’m crazy

For future reference, if it's on both sides and is relatively even, it's probably not tumor-related.

What do you mean that you aren't ready for a rooster? You don't know how to handle one, or?
No, just that we are first time chicken owners and we aren’t prepared for fertilized eggs and the other things that come with roosters. We thought we were getting all hens. I will say if she turns out to be a rooster, I’m not sure I can part with her or him lol.

That's what I was thinking.
The feet are pretty dark, of course I don’t have another to compare it to, so I was hoping it would be female.

Been there. Done that. His name is Roopecca. :lau
Good luck with yours.

Fertilized eggs are no different, not really. All that means is they have a spot on them of a few different cells. As long as you collect the eggs regularly (which you should anyway), they won't develop into chicks. If you want to keep that one, keep that one.

Chicks that aren't sex link or autosexing breeds can't be sexed for 100% certain. The best methods have something like a 90% chance of accuracy. The place you got them from should have made it clear that ordering female chicks means they'll do their best to give you females but can't guarantee it.

I kept a rooster last year and I have enjoyed having him around. Give it a try.
