Hi All,
I have 3 assorted chicks, all supposed to be girls, but this one has a cute little comb already. Does that mean anything? She's a Speckled Sussex about 2 weeks old.
Thanks!

It just means she has a fairly big comb for a SS. It happens pretty regularly with hatchery stock. If it darkens and grows and she sprouts wattles, that's when you worry. If not, she's just a well-endowed girl.

OK! Thank you so much! That makes me feel better. If she is a he, then he has to go.

Its too young to tell if "it" is a pullet for sure. However, I'm leaning towards pullet for now. The comb may be rather large, but I don't see any wattles yet, and it isn't red.

OK! I'm praying! I am very new at this and the other 2 chicks have hardly any comb at all, but they are different breeds. 1 is a Jersey Giant and the other is a Delaware.
